Saigon Cherry
The beautiful markings in Cherry have long fascinated woodworkers. McAlpine's Saigon Cherry's rich romantic elegance makes it a traditional European and Japanese favorite.
Color: The heartwood of this wood varies from light brown to reddish brown and will gradually darken over time wiht exposure to the light. By contrast, the sapwood is a creamy white.
Grain: Saigon cherry can be straight or long and wavy.
Uses: It is widely used for cabinets, furniture and flooring.
Hardness: Hardwood Cherry ranges in the Janka hardness scale from 950 all the way to 3,100. North American Cherry is the softest of the Cherry Hardwood while the Exotic Cherry Hardwoods will vary between 2,800 and 3,100 on the Janka scale.
